MIAMI CAPOEIRA - CAIS DOURADO |
|
Cais Dourado, named for the famous section of São Salvador, Bahia where strong and creative capoeiristas historically came to play, is the first branch of the United Capoeira Association (UCA) on the east coast of the United States. Mestre Acordeon, along with mestre Rã and mestra Suelly lead the United Capoeira Association, one of the premier capoeira groups in the United States. These three mestres embody all that is fantastic about capoeira. They are the inspiration at the root of Cais Dourado, Miami, FL. (see classes)
Our instrutora, Índia, is an inspired, creative teacher. Her passion for capoeira began over 10 years ago, when she began training and fell in love with the magical art form. In 2004 she returned home to Miami, FL after training with mestres Acordeon, Rã and Suelly in Berkeley and São Salvador, Bahia, and has become one of the United Capoeira Association's advanced women capoeiristas. Índia's love and passion for the art of capoeira combine with her natural talents and vibrant presence to produce stimulating, imaginative classes. Her teaching continues the tradition with the intensity and honor that has been passed on to her from her mestres.
Índia is assisted by Armando de Melo (Boto), a Portuguese-Brazilian capoeirista who began training in the early 1980’s with contramestre Avestruz, under the legendary mestre Acordeon, when only three capoeira academies existed in the United States.
